The population of this study was the eighth grade and the total sample of 38 students at SMP Kristen Daruba Pulau Morotai. The method is quantitative method (pre-experimental). The instrument used was a vocabulary test, consisting of a pre-test and a post-test. Based on the findings and discussion, it can be concluded that using picture series effectively improved students’ vocabulary at SMP Kristen Daruba Pulau Morotai. The improvement on students’ vocabulary can be proven by the results of the pret-test, with scores showing that the 40.74 and the average on the post-test were 82.95. The researcher used pre-experimental method. The data collected by using test, in this case a pre-test and post-test. The pre-test given to the students before giving treatment and post-test was given to the students after giving treatment. The population of this study was the seventh-grade students in SMPN Unggulan 2 Pulau Morotai. Meanwhile the sample of this study is 40 students. The results showed that the value of the average score in the pre-test was 42.07 and the average of the post-test was 82, 20. It can be concluded that the student vocabulary had increased after being given treatment using Tiktok application. This is also evidenced by the results of the statistical analysis which proves that there is a significance difference in students’ vocabulary before and after using the tiktok application with the results (2-tailed) value of 0,000, which is less than 0. 005.It means that Null Hypothesis (H0) was rejected while the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. A quantitative descriptive method was employed using a structured questionnaire consisting of 22 items measured on a Likert scale. Data analysis techniques used the SPSS Windows 22 application. Data were collected from 30 students through purposive sampling. The results showed that students generally had positive perceptions of Chat-GPT's role in improving various aspects of their English learning, such as vocabulary development, grammar correction, and writing support, with a mean score of 40.27 (SD = 8.221). Students' self-rated English proficiency was also relatively high and consistent, with a mean score of 46.67 (SD = 5.352). The reliability of the questionnaire, indicated by a Cronbach's Alpha of 0.786, indicates good internal consistency. In conclusion, Chat-GPT is considered a useful additional tool in language learning, although its effectiveness varies among individuals. The method used in this study is qualitative, and the participants in this study consisted of two teachers from SMP Negeri 20 Pulau Morotai, one teacher from SMA Muhammadiyah I Morotai and one of MAS. Nurul Huda Gotalamo. The researcher collected data using three research instruments, namely interviews, questionnaires, and written reflection. The data were analyzed using Thematic Analysis. Conducted at MTs Muhammadiyah Soasio Galela, the research applied a quasi-experimental design with two groups: an experimental class exposed to short conversation techniques and a control class taught through conventional methods. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests, focusing on fluency, vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, and comprehension. Findings reveal that students in the experimental group demonstrated significant improvement in speaking proficiency compared to the control group. The use of short conversations encouraged active participation, reduced speaking anxiety, and improved oral communication skills. However, challenges such as limited access to technology and insufficient training were identified. Latar belakang penelitian didasari oleh pentingnya integrasi nilai-nilai budaya lokal dalam pendidikan untuk membentuk karakter siswa. Namun, implementasinya menghadapi kendala seperti keterbatasan sumber daya guru, rendahnya minat siswa, pengaruh teknologi, serta minimnya keterlibatan orang tua. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik wawancara, observasi, dan dokomentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa meskipun pemahaman guru dan siswa cukup baik, masih terdapat hambatan berupa keterbatasan media ajar, kurangnya waktu, serta kurangnya dukungan keluarga. Upaya yang dilakukan sekolah antara lain pelatihan guru, pembuatan media dari lingkungan sekitar, kolaborasi dengan orang tua,dan pengutan kegiatan berbasis budaya lokal. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimen sederhana. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 30 siswa yang dipilih secara purposive. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa angket motivasi belajar dengan skala Likert. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji t untuk mengetahui perbedaan rata-rata motivasi belajar sebelum dan sesudah diberikan bimbingan belajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada motivasi belajar siswa setelah mengikuti bimbingan belajar. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada rendahnya semangat dan partisipasi siswa dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian lapangan (<em>field research</em>) yang bersifat deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi langsung dan tidak langsung, wawancara semi-terstruktur, serta dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan (1) Strategi guru dalam meningkatkan minat belajar siswa kelas III SD Muhammadiyah 7 Marhaban Sangowo dilaksanakan secara integratif melalui lima pendekatan utama, yaitu: penggunaan media pembelajaran interaktif, penerapan metode pembelajaran aktif, pemberian penguatan dan penghargaan, pendekatan personal dan emosional, serta pengaitan materi pembelajaran dengan kehidupan sehari-hari. Strategi-strategi tersebut secara sistematis dirancang untuk merespons kebutuhan perkembangan peserta didik secara kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotorik. (2) Strategi pembelajaran yang diterapkan guru SD Muhammadiyah 7 Marhaban Sangowo yaitu peningkatan partisipasi siswa, motivasi belajar siswa, dan kondisi belajar kondusif. Strategi tersebut mampu menciptakan suasana pembelajaran yang kondusif, mendorong siswa untuk aktif berpartisipasi, serta menumbuhkan motivasi baik secara intrinsik maupun ekstrinsik. Pendekatan yang humanis dan komunikatif dari guru turut membentuk lingkungan belajar yang aman dan menyenangkan, sehingga siswa merasa nyaman dalam mengemukakan pendapat tanpa rasa takut. Safi, Irawati Sabban, Ledy Yanti Lessy 2025-09-15 2025-09-15 4 02 1191 1208 The Influence of Peer Feedback on Writing Skills Development in English as a Second Language at SMP Negeri 18 Pulau Morotai https://ojs.smkmerahputih.com/index.php/juperan/article/view/1280 <p><em>This study aims to investigate the influence of providing peer feedback on the writing skills of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 18 Pulau Morotai in the subject of English as a second language. The study employs a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design of the one-group pretest-posttest type. The sample consisted of 20 students selected purposively. The main instrument used was a writing test assessed using an analytic rubric. The scoring rubric includes five essential aspects: Content (relevance and completeness of ideas), Organization (flow and coherence of ideas), Vocabulary (accuracy and variety of word choice), Grammar (correct sentence structure), and Mechanics (use of spelling, punctuation, and capitalization). Each aspect is scored from 1 to 4, allowing for an in-depth evaluation of students’ writing ability before and after the treatment. The analysis results show that the average pretest score was 8.65, which increased to 12.70 in the posttest. The Shapiro-Wilk normality test indicated that the data were normally distributed. The paired samples correlation test showed a correlation value of 0.662, and the paired samples t-test indicated a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results, with a t-value of 8.371 and a significance level of 0.001 (p &lt; 0.05).
