Abstrak

Comparative or comparison in the field of education has a very good function to improve the quality of education in a country. A good education system will be a reference for other countries, one of which is Indonesia, which is one of the countries whose quality of education is still lacking, therefore Indonesia needs to learn from developed countries whose quality of education is superior, one of which is Japan. This country has advantages in its education system so that this country is included in the superior education quality. The purpose of this article is to examine the comparisons and similarities between these two countries. The results of this research show that both places great emphasis on developing character and moral values. The education curriculum in Japan is supervised by the Education Council at regional and city levels, while in Indonesia the national curriculum has been determined by the government. This study center provides readers with insight into the differences and similarities between the Indonesian and Japanese education systems. Information about education systems from other countries can be a source of inspiration for developing a better education system
