Teaching Reading Through Reading, Encode, Annotate, and Ponder (REAP) Technique to Improve Reading Comprehension in Junior High School

Abstrak

The objective of this research is to determine the effect of REAP technique on students’ reading comprehension. The method used in this research was quantitative method and the research design was pre experimental. The samples of this study were 30 students of the eight grade of MTs Negeri 1 Pulau Morotai in the Academic year 2024/2025. Based on the findings of the study the researcher concluded that REAP technique can be use to improve students’ reading comprehension. It can be see the data results showed that in the pretest Mean score was 38.47 after being given treatment using the REAP technique, in the posttest the Mean score increased significantly, namely 80.77. It can be proven from the result of hypothesis testing which shows that sig. (2-tailed) was lower than the level of significance (0.000 < 0.05). it can be concluded that the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. So it is proven that using the REAP technique can iomprove students’ reading comprehension.
