Abstrak

This research is a qualitative literature survey research using comparative methods. This research is motivated by developments in technology and Indonesian human resources which continue to change with the times, and appropriate responses are needed for the implementation and development of the future curriculum. By studying how Japan implements and designs classroom education curriculum, it is hoped that it can become an example for policy and curriculum development in Indonesia. This research uses data from various literature sources, such as journals, articles, books and official publications related to the Indonesian and Japanese curriculum. The Comparative Research Model is used to present and analyze this research data. Testing the validity of the data was carried out through source triangulation, which was carried out by analyzing various literature sources. Both in Indonesia and Japan, changes in the education system are adapting to current developments. Changes continue to be made to improve the quality of education and stimulate the creative spirit of teachers to apply their insights to students in their classes. One of the important requirements for training in educational institutions is the curriculum. Curriculum is an important part of education and teaching. Different curriculum elements that are interconnected between learning objectives, materials, techniques and assessment, are the main basis for efforts to develop the learning process in educational institutions. However, ironically, Indonesia is still far behind with TIMS and PISA scores of the same size. The research results show that there are similarities in thematic learning content and competency values ​​found in the curriculum in Indonesia and Japan. In Japanese education, it can be seen that Moral Education is often used in classroom learning activities. This can be an example for curriculum development in Indonesia.
