The Influence of TikTok Social Media on the Learning Discipline of Upper Grade Students at SD Negeri 5 Wates in the 2025/2026 Academic Year

This study aims to explore: (1) the extent to which TikTok social media usage affects the learning discipline of upper-grade students at SD Negeri 5 Wates during the 2025/2026 academic year, (2) the frequency of TikTok use among fourth- and fifth-grade students, and (3) the relationship between TikTok usage and students’ learning discipline. A quantitative approach with a survey method was employed in this study. The sample consisted of 53 students from grades IV and V, selected using purposive sampling. The independent variable was TikTok social media usage, while the dependent variable was students’ learning discipline. Data were collected using a five-point Likert scale questionnaire. Prior to analysis, data were tested for prerequisites, including normality and linearity tests, and then analyzed using simple linear regression via JASP software. The results indicated a significance value (p-value) of 0.036 < 0.05, suggesting a significant effect of TikTok usage on upper-grade students’ learning discipline. The coefficient of determination (R²) was 0.083, indicating that 8.3% of the variation in learning discipline was influenced by TikTok usage, while the remaining 91.7% was affected by other factors not examined in this study.
