PjBL Model Based on Contextual Teaching and Learning in Civics Learning: Efforts to Foster Student Creativity

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model based on Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) in Civic Education (PKn) learning as an effort to develop elementary school students’ creativity. This research stems from the problem of low student engagement and creative thinking skills in PKn learning, which is still dominated by lecture methods. Through the integration of the PjBL model with the CTL approach, students are encouraged to learn actively, collaboratively, and contextually through projects relevant to their daily lives. This study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively through stages of data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the implementation of the PjBL model based on CTL can enhance students’ creativity in expressing ideas, designing learning products, and fostering responsibility and teamwork. Learning becomes more meaningful as it connects PKn concepts with students’ real-life experiences. These findings recommend implementing the PjBL model based on CTL as an alternative innovative learning strategy in the Merdeka Curriculum to foster creativity and the character of Pancasila students.
